Room 514, Friday evening (pre-party)
Rodney was killing time by watching Holy Grail and pretending that he thought it might be useful for class. They were using catapults, after all.

He'd practically forgotten the fact that Helen still owed him a date until she'd mentioned it during class that morning. He wasn't quite sure what to expect.

OOC: Room and post are open, especially for the date.

The boardwalk, Friday evening
Blair didn't have ice to work with this time, but she tried to do what she could with the location she had. Luckily the beach was pretty. Besides, too much gold in the decorations tended to cross the line into tacky.

So she kept the decorations to twinkling gold lights and candles. Most of the linens were a crisp white, with golden napkins and table runners to provide pops of color.

The bulk of the gold went into the food. There were brandied apricots, lemon and chocolate cheesecakes, mango sorbets, small cups of saffron vanilla pudding, miniature stuffed yellow peppers, and any number of foods that followed the theme, along with the pies that Ned had made.

Drinks were mixed, but naturally included Goldschläger, as well as coffee and cocoa decorated with tiny gold letters which said things like "Fandom" or "Goodbye Summer."

Blair had staked out a prime table with a view of the water. She sipped at a passionfruit martini, listened to the music coming out of the various speakers she'd had set up, and looked forward to a night of judging watching the crowd.

She was also going to make sure nobody served those skunks. Clearly they didn't know how to hold their liquor.

Caritas - Friday evening [Open]
Jolee made sure the HELP WANTED sign was clearly visible before taking his seat behind the bar and letting Tino do most of the work tonight.

[OOC: Okay, so, I'm being knocked for a loop by Benadryl. I have no clue how conscious I'm going to be tonight, so let's call it a mod Tino for reasonable service night. If you're here for either Jolee or a job, please bear with any potential consciousness issues.]

Character Ability Tally!! (because the memes weren't eating your afternoon enough)
WATCH ME SHAMELESSLY USE THE SAME POST AGAIN.

(I wrote it. I'm allowed to cannibalize it. Hush.)

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon1 power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Please be as thorough as possible, as this will help everyone out with plots and knowing who can fill what roles.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

(And naturally, there will be threads, so please wait for the rather long OCD or I will have to kill something Done! Have at it.)

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around the last couple years and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here are some shiny links for you.

It's Student Council time! This year Nathan will be in charge of it in an advisory capacity God help you all. What we need now is some - what's the word - oh yeah, students.

Room 503 -- Friday Afternoon
After her discussion with Juliano, Yurika cut her shopping trip short, opting to go back to the island and the safety of her room. The sneaky bastard wouldn't dare set foot on Fandom, it was too risky.

Which is why she was pacing her room, currently muttering to herself as Alea looked on in puzzlement.

"Gomenasi, Romeo, but..." she trailed off, shaking her head. "No. Um. Romeo, we need to talk...dammit!" Snarling, she flopped down on her bed burying her head in her hands. "I am so fucked."

You can run on for a long time... )

The grounds around the dorms, Friday afternoon
Lola hadn't gotten around to checking with Tony about smoking in the room, yet, and decided it probably wouldn't be a good idea to try finding out by lighting up in there.

So she was chilling outside, taking her time working through a cigarette, and staring off into space.

What? Fun didn't always have to mean active, right?

Pixie Dust, Friday [9/5]
Jenny had encountered a few skunk-types on her way into town, and had decided they probably wouldn't add much to the store's decor. So she'd posted a polite (for her) sign on the door, way down at skunk eye level, and set out a few dishes full of booze on the sidewalk as additional encouragement for the skunks to bugger off.

She was innovative like that.

The York Gallery [9/5]
Eve had had to dodge drunken skunks the entire way to work, so she was in no mood for the one that had somehow gotten into the gallery.

"OUT!" She pointed at the door. "YOU. OUT."

The skunk whimpered and hid under the desk.

"No, seriously, out. I'll even hold the door open for you." She held the door open. "See?"

The skunk whimpered again and toddled its way drunkenly out the door.

Oh, this was gonna be a long day.

Rm 409, Friday early evening

Getting ready for her date with Cal proved easy enough as Amber didn't have that many pretty dresses to choose from. But the one she did choose was nice, simple, if not a tiny bit daring. Maybe a little more than daring. But dammit, her boobs might not be nearly beautiful as Inara's, but they were something. Might as well show off what she had, right? Not that she was hoping to boggle anyone. Of course not.

She smirked at her own reflection in the mirror and added a touch of lipgloss to her lips, a little perfume behind each ear, and a dab on each wrist. And what the hell, she added some to her cleavage as well. The long gold necklace accented her skin and the color of her dress perfectly. She dressed to impress, that was certain. Or at least she tried.

Hopefully tonight went well, and the party fun. Amber really, was unsure of what to expect. This was actually a date. Cal said so. Asked her out even. "Time will tell, as they say," she murmured and stepped over to her bed to put on her strappy heels.

[Establishy except for the date. Whoo! A date! Up kind of early, but I have to run a stupid errand. Uhg. This day is like, flying by.]

Groovy Tunes; Friday [ 09/05 ]
"Prince Oscar Pedro Neko-kun the Third," Chad grunted, trying not to sound too upset as he reprimanded the cat. "Would you leave those poor skunks alone already?"

A scratchy meow emerged from a pile of black and white fur, a Prince Oscar Pedro buried underneath a pile of overly affectionate skunks who were having a giggling debate over just how much like sandpaper the hairless cat's skin was or was not like. He really wanted to know where Chad was getting the idea that it was he who needed to leave the skunks alone and not the other way around.

Eventually, he'd manage to escape them, narrowly missing getting sprayed as he darted quickly for shelter under the shelves, but the skunks stumbled after him. "Come ba'ack, kitty!" the leader of the skunk crew hiccupped, and the others giggled. "We wanna find you some fuuuuur!"

Chad shook his head slightly; even if the skunks were cute, he had to admit to feeling glad to have had plenty of coffee this morning.

Today's Mix: Couldn't Be More Random if I Tried

Groovy Tunes is open, and the Now Hiring sign was still in the window.

Pizza Planet, Friday
Jen was rather pleased, overall, with Alex's birthday the night before and with the Doctor's class today, a mood that lasted about halfway into her walk to work after third period. It was a long walk, since she did of course -- as always -- feel obligated to take a quick tirp through the port district and check out those empty warehouses.

Old police habits died hard, so when she saw the skunk of course she tried to give it a warning about public drunkenness, and . . .

The rest of her trip to work went very quickly. The good thing about working at a pizza parlor? No shortage of tomato sauce. And that was probably enough said about that.

But boy, were the kitchen guys ever amused. Jen, tomato sauce still in her hair and dripping down the back of her neck, not so much.

Today's Special
Tomato sauce. Lots of it.

FTEC, Friday
"You've got to be kidding me."

There were drunk skunks lined up in the clinic when he got there in the morning. Lined up, sitting in chairs, laying on chairs, laying on the floor... "Okay, you, you, and you," he said, pointing to three nurses who happened to be nearby. "Run to the Perk and buy..." He considered. "... I think they sell big carafe-jug-things of coffee." He fished his wallet out of his pocket and handed them a couple of twenties. "Go buy a few of those." He sighed. "This is going to be a long day."

But at least it was a caffeinated one.

The Pool, Friday Evening
It had been a couple of months, and Earth still made him uncomfortable.

Not for the first time, Ender had retreated, his back like a raft on the surface of the water. His eyes weren't closed. He was watching the ceiling, watching one spider crawl across that particular surface, not-watching the skunk that had draped itself (himself? Herself?) over the diving board some time into his presence here.

He was tired of thinking, but he also knew he wasn't going to stop, and so spinning around in circles about it wasn't going to help him. It would have to be like the Battle Room, way back when: still drifting idle paths from one side of the pool to the other.

You could almost mistake it for being content.

[ open like a pool, kids ]

Wellspring Arms & Meditation Center, Friday
Rikku knew it was gonna be a crappy day when she got to work and there was a dead skunk lying in front of the door.

Rikku knew it was going to be a worse day when the not-actually-dead skunk sat up just long enough to puke all over the place. Luckily, not on her, or else he would be a dead skunk.

"Wher'm I?" the skunk managed. "Don' ... 'member how I ... got here."

"You'd better move your butt, or you're gonna be roadkill," she snapped.

He must've realized she meant that, because he wobbled off, leaving behind the puke and skunk-smell. Wonderful.

The Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center was open. Just don't expect Rikku to be too thrilled about it.

(OOC: ATTENTION SQUIRRELS! Romeo stopping in to tell Rikku that he and Dojima had a fight is totally okay for broadcast. What Dojima and Romeo fought about is NFB, please and thank you!)

The Perk, Friday Morning
While Teyla was still not a fan of coffee, she had found that the tea at The Perk was quite suitable to her taste. She had no classes today, and was trying to decide how she wanted to spend her day, when a skunk wobbled up to her and tried to attach itself to her leg. Amidst all the slurring and clinging, she would have sworn it was telling her she was shiny, and she was just about to shake him off of her when a second skunk approached and pulled the first one away, claiming he'd seen Teyla first.

As the skunks began to fight with each other, Teyla watched and wondered if there was something about her that only attracted small, furry animals.

Room 314 [early afternoon]
Today, Queen Susan of Narnia was eighteen years old.

Or, in this world, if you went by the proper dates, Susan Pevensie was eighty.

She didn't even know what year it might be in her England, and trying to ponder it gave her a headache. So instead, she simply contented herself with the fact that she was most definitely eighteen, and not eighty, though she could certainly hope to still look this good at eighty.

She was fairly certain no one would particularly even care, aside from Edmund (and, of course, Peter and Lucy, if time passed the same in Narnia as it did here), and so far her only celebration was to reward herself for passing eighteen years and not managing to die yet by getting a small tart from JGOB when she took her morning walk through town.

(The skunks she had encountered were interesting, clingy and slurring though they may have been. She was reminded of a particular banquet in Narnia when some of the Badgers had gotten a bit too much mead and -- well. That memory simply didn't bear any more thought.)

There was thought of putting a candle in it, but that just seemed silly.

[open if you'd like. I'm just proud I remembered her birthday.]

Book Haven - Friday - 9/5
...the Skunks were interesting.

He'd been followed for a few feet by one insisting he was a 'very pretty little girl' and there'd been some unhelpful muttering from another one he'd had to jump over to avoid stepping on, but for the most part they were simply interesting as opposed to troublesome.

Liir, nevertheless, got to work on time.

The store was opened, the shelves dusted, the floor swept, and the tea and cookies were put out before he turned the sign and took a spot behind the counter.

The Book Haven was open.

[please to be modding your shopping today as work is doing Mandatory Fun and I will be heading out around 12; if you'd like to see him, I'll be back later tonight]

Office Hours - Friday - 9/5
Abby Irene was in fine spirits, dressed in her usual blue corduroy from New Amsterdam, feeling a bit more comfortable in her own skin. The modern dress had been quite lovely in certain ways, the fabrics breathing well and easy to slip into, but the had never sat quite right on her and she felt better for being in her own well-worn clothes.

Mike was not with her, as he'd opted to stay with Mary, or rather with his breakfast as she had skipped out rather early. A cup of tea (how she'd missed that) and a scone had been rather invigorating.

Now, she was working on her first class, trying to decide how she might impart her information to her students without being painfully boring.
